Nina Turner dispels & explains the Bernie Bro trope.

February 21, 2020 By Egberto Willies

Nina Turner, spokesperson and national co-chair of the Bernie Sanders did not hold back as she dispelled and explained the Bernie Bro trope.

Why the Bernie Bro trope?

I visited the Bernie Sanders headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada. The day before they told me Nina Turner would be in town and would be addressing volunteers to thank them for their work and encourage them to continue the fight for transforming this country to a real democracy with a more fair and equitable distribution of its resources.

Turner did not disappoint. At the debate, Bernie Sanders addressed Bernie Bro trope directly.

“We have over 10.6 million people on Twitter, and 99.9 percent of them are decent human beings, are working people, are people who believe in justice, compassion, and love,” Bernie Sanders said. “And if there are a few people who make ugly remarks, who attack trade union leaders, I disown those people. They are not part of our movement. But let me also say what I hope my friends up here will agree with is that if you look at the wild west of the internet, talk to some of the African-American women on my campaign. Talk to Senator Nina Turner. Talk to others and find the vicious, racist, sexist attacks that are coming their way, as well. So I would hope that all of us understand that we should do everything we possibly can to end the viciousness and ugliness on the internet. Our campaign is about issues. It’s about fighting for the working families and the middle class. It is not about vicious attacks on other people.”

Listen to the short video clip in this post. Turner makes some prescient points. She urged Bernie supporters not to get sidetracked by the false tropes.

“The Bernie Bro trope erases women of all walks of life,” Nina Turner said. ” It erases women of color who support the senator.”

We are in the thick of it now and many games are being played We must remain wide-eyes-open.
