Fox News decided that they would caricature Velshi’s factual reporting on the George Floyd murder protests in Minneapolis. Did Ali Velshi change his coverage?

Ali Velshi undeterred by Fox News attacks

Watch the entire episode here.

A few nights ago I was impressed with the fact-based coverage Ali Velshi, more so than other correspondents, gave to the protests in Minneapolis.

One of the reasons we want diverse journalists is that one gets perspectives otherwise ignored. Ali Velshi’s coverage of the protests in Minneapolis was spot on. By giving it context one can be sure many learned much that they would have otherwise been ignorant of, as they misjudge the reasons for the protests in the first place.

Fox News in an attempt to discredit Velshi as well as its continuation in being Trump’s misinforming propaganda network wrote the following.

An MSNBC journalist attempted to explain that the violence that erupted in Minneapolis on Thursday night was “mostly a protest” despite a building burning right behind him.

Ali Velshi was reporting live from the Twin Cities amid the uproar following the death of 46-year-old George Floyd. Velshi attempted to explain that what he was witnessing was “calmer” than the night prior.

If Fox News had hoped to coerce MSNBC and Ali Velshi into changing their context appropriate reporting about the protests in Minneapolis, they failed as seen in his reporting today. It is important that the media inform Americans about the reasons for these protests. An ill-informed America is complicit in maintaining a corrupt police force throughout the country.
