COVID-19 makes the case against health insurance sponsored by the employer clear.

Americans are losing and have lost their jobs by the millions. All those lucky to have had employer-sponsored health insurance will lose it. Health care should not be a function of who employs you. It must be a right.

MSNBC Host Katy Tur: No to health insurance sponsored by employer

Watch complete episodes here.

MSNBC Katy Tur has become one of my preferred hosts because along with Ali Velshi, she pushes the limits of corporate media. She often challenges guests in a manner that sometimes makes her co-hosts uncomfortable.

Well, she is doing what the few, especially the men, are unwilling to do. Today was not a challenge to a person but to a corrupt ideology that makes the corporation your master and the determinant of the extent of the quality of your life.

Katy Tur points out that 5.4 million Americans will lose their health insurance after losing their jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic. She then points out not only the obvious but the outright immorality of our employer-based health insurance fraud.

“At a time when you need health insurance most,” Tur said. “You are losing it because health insurance is tied to your private employer.”

This is a continuation of her journalistic advocacy for health care reality. She called out the Health Insurance Industrial Complex hack Senator Michael Bennet for his refusal to support Medicare for All. She slapped him with the following. Check out the clip as it is one to see.

“It seems like you are saying that the Democracy we are currently living in, it doesn’t work,” Katy Tur said. ” It is broken which calls for foundational change. But you are not a foundational change candidate. Why are you not a candidate calling for Medicare for All like some of the other candidates? Why are you not a candidate coming out there and saying we need to fix Washington and in order to fix it we’ve got to change from the ground up? Why are you so in the moderate wing.”

If there is one thing we must demand come out of this COVID-19 pandemic, is the death of employer-based insurance and the enslavement to the private health insurance industry and the entire Healthcare Industrial Complex which is funded to a large extent by our tax dollars.
