The form of government I believe in is true Democracy. The economic system I believe in is Free Enterprise with a robust social safety net. Many get upset when I point out we have neither. Except for what are inalienable rights, in a true Democracy, majority rules.
A majority cannot take away anyoneโs inalienable rights. But a majority should choose who governs us. And our economic system must be such that one is free to create, build, produce, and sell anything they want if they create no involuntary harm to anyone.
We have a semblance of a Democracy. We are fooled into believing that Capitalism has something to do with Free Enterprise and Democracy. Recall that China is a Capitalist country now.
In a time when 40 million Americans will see suffering not seen since the depression, our economic system is defined by a stock market that is doing comparatively well. One must ask, why? Mom & Pop stores do not trade stocks on the stock market. And as Mom & Pop and small businesses fail, the large corporations and multinationals will grow like no other even with a smaller population capable of spending.
All of this is by design. As this mathematically unsustainable system fails it has to continuously eat parts of itself. And that is you, your assets, your future.
There are answers but we must be willing to dispel our โPowell Manifestoโ indoctrination, ideologies, and gullibility. We must be willing to forego our simplistic superfluous rhetoric we as a people have been reduced to as a form of political discourse. Those who control us are not all that smart. They are just more ruthless, immoral, and inhumane.
โGreed is goodโ as stated by the fictional self-serving Gordon Gecko is false. Reality proves that greed as the motivational factor for a vibrant economy is provably false. Think about how baseless the statement is.
1. The people who invent, create, and serve have been doing so at a discount to those with capital for centuries and they have yet to kill the billionaires out of greed to take the earnings that their intellect and service created. And there are more of those who serve and create than those with capital from a system they have rigged since the inception of America.
2. Capital/money does not have intellect. If you drop 1 billion dollars on a table, it can create nothing. It needs the human with intellect to accomplish something. So yes, the billionaire is useless. Yet, in our economic system, we have given preeminence to capital over people, over humanity.
It is important to note that our economic system creates a faรงade of a meritocracy. The reality has always been, you must be invited explicitly or implicitly to succeed. When tools are developed to level the playing field, capital eats the gains so derived again.
Example: Record companies and talent companies used to choose who would become stars. It seemed like the internet would level the field. Talent could go directly to the people via social media and other forms. People gained the freedom to choose who they liked, who would excel. Guess what happened? The powers found ways to remove the democratization of the internet by controlling its ubiquity and neutral efficient access. They will have the ability to neuter those who do not play in the form they allow one to exist.
In my book As I See It: Class Warfare the Only Resort To Right Wing Doom, I gave examples of how the patent system and other methods are used to limit oneโs success. Again, America is not a meritocracy.
We have a small window to save our small companies and Mom & Pops and to restore the democratic value of the internet. This is not the time for the Conservative/Liberal/Right Wing/Progressive debate. The masses are on the same team now,
Our biggest obstacle is ensuring people are truthfully informed. The thing is, mathematically we can inform quickly. Geometric projection works. But, practically, we must get around the indoctrination and all the ‘isms’ in order for the message to seep in, in order to empower us all to empower ourselves.
I am positive that we will ultimately create the only survivable society, one that is egalitarian.
