Once more the media got played and with that many Americans. Joe Biden’s Latin American/African American gaffe was not a gaffe at all.
Biden need not claim this gaffe
As a Black/Latino/Caribean man, AKA an Afro-Latino/Afro-Caribean married to an African American woman, I take offense to Donald Trump and the mainstream media for making Joe Biden’s comments seem like a slur against or slight of African Americans. So what did the former Vice-President say?
“What you all know but most people don’t know, unlike the African American community with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things,” Biden said in that interview. “You go to Florida, you find a very different attitude about immigration in certain places than you do when you’re in Arizona. So it’s a very different, a very diverse community.”
He made the statement within the context of talking about Latinos from countries as distinct from each other as Cuba, Mexico, and Venezuela. It is ironic, as a black man, listening to a candidate I am voting for, campaigning for but have never been fond of, I understood what he was saying. And in the aggregate he is correct. I find the false sense of righteous indignation by some rather comical.
Biden has since sent out clarifying information I think does more harm than good. Joe Biden is Joe Biden. He is old-school with all the baggage that comes with it. But he was the choice of our party. Fortunately, running against a full-fledged racist like Trump makes Biden’s less sensitive statements pale in comparison. But this one isn’t one that I think needed addressing given the context. It just deflects from all the evil Trump does constantly. Keep the focus on Trump.
PS: I really take offense to nothing in America. America has given me the thickest skin possible.

No, I’ll give Biden a gaffe point.
There is no singular color, race, creed or even plaid status monolithic bloc in the nation. Period, hell, I’ll even state the world, based upon how many continents I’ve lived and operated on.
The only modest error, fixated upon, out an entire speech. Rather like fixating upon ‘a’ vs ‘an’ as a winning point – maybe for an English teacher, but in the real world, mustard seed sized nuts to rely upon for being ever so much more manly.
With Trump, I’d let him try to play it into scrotal package sizes, then switch it to “Yeah, got two kids, 16 miscarriages and we’re still together and everyone I meet respects both of us, what do people think of you again?”, then explain what people really, honestly think of him on his downtime moments, some with video.
Won’t be pretty at all.
For the record, my scrotal contents are smaller than average, but obviously successful enough to meet eggs, if that’s one’s simpleton goals. We both have, upon a remark from several US Army Generals, remarked that we could assemble an army on every continent.
I disagreed, as we’ve never been to Asia on deployment and well, neither of us were interested in Antarctica. For the remainder, maybe a loose group of loyal friends.
Still working on recruiting the plaids, they’re just ever so hard to find. 😉
Treating people like you want to be treated wins friends rapidly, judging someone on some “failure” of skin, faith, belief or whatever is precisely how to lose a potential friend.
And strangers are only simply friends I’ve not gotten to know and know me yet.

Trump can say anything, even the exact opposite of what he said the day before and Republicans will either cheer or ignore it but never directly criticize. Ds on the other hand will go after their own just as hard as they go after Trump. Al Franken comes to mind. At the end of the day this dynamic gives a big advantage to the Right.

Come on, buddy. There are lots of black people here from other places, including Africans, who are not descended from slavery.
