Too often, issues like voter suppression are the news of the day or the week, and then it is forgotten. While activists do their best to keep the pressure on before too much damage is done. But unless the media, whether mainstream or independent, are engaged, the job is that much harder.

Many have been pleasantly surprised that many in the media are heeding the call. The gross anti-democratic nature of the voter suppression laws being pushed by Republicans to maintain minority rule makes it impossible not to cover.

In this clip, Stephanie Ruhle‘s guest exposes the lie that many Right-Wing outlets are trying to push. They want America to believe that the Colorado voting laws, the state now hosting MLB’s All-Star game, are more ominous than Georgia’s oppressive voter suppression laws.

As I pointed out in a previous blog post,

Do not believe the Republicans lie that Colorado voter laws are similar to theirs and sometimes less lenient. We must set the record straight.

Colorado Vs. Georgia Voting Laws: What Are The Differences? | Colorado Public Radio

There’s a major difference between the states, though: Colorado votes by mail. Every registered voter receives a ballot about 15 to 20 days before the election. And instead of waiting in line at a polling station, the vast majority simply drop the ballot in a mailbox or a secure dropbox.

According to information from the Secretary of State, 99.3 percent of Colorado primary voters used one of those methods last year.

So, while it’s true that Colorado has fewer days for in-person voting, it also has far less demand for in-person voting. Voters rarely encounter lines here. And the ultimate result of Colorado’s system is extremely high turnout.

We must not allow the Right-Wing to mislead their followers. We prevent misleading by pointing out the unadulterated truth.
