Texas AG all but confessed to voter suppression

Chris Hayes points out an important fact. Republicans no longer fear telling the truth about their intent to suppress the vote. Unfortunately, there is not enough pushback from the side that stands for democracy which represents most Americans.

Hayes played an interview that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton did with a Right-Wing network.

“There was a concerted effort nationally,” said Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. “With lots of money going into it. And just knowing we had twelve laws suits that we had to win, and if we had lost one of them, we would have lost Harris County.”

So Paxton makes it clear that there are monied interests ready to rig the election.

“Trump won by 620,000 votes in Texas,” Paxton said. “Harris County mail-in ballots that they wanted to send out were 2.5 million.”

He details the calculation as he confessed to voter suppression by ensuring during a pandemic that he would not allow Texans in Harris County to vote.”

“Those were all illegal,” Paxton continued. “And we were able to stop every one of them.”

That is a lie. These were all registered voters. How could it have been illegal?

“Had we not done that, we would have been in the very same situation,” Paxton said. “We would have been up election night. I was watching election night, and I knew when I saw what was happening in those other states that that would have been Texas. We would have been in the same boat. We would have been one of those battleground states that they were counting votes in Harris County for three days. And Donald Trump would have lost the election.”

And then pointed out what the polls told us. Trump would have lost Texas. That is what anti-democracy looks like. That is voter suppression.
