Former MSNBC Hardball Host Chris Matthews revealed what many believe to be an unfortunate and inconvenient truth. If he is right, what percentage of white people suffer from the illness of which he speaks?
Chris Matthews nails it
Chris Matthews appeared with Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC recently and said something out loud many already assumed. But letting it out in the ethos is instrumental for some to look in the mirror and change.
“I think there are a lot of people in this country, white people,” Chris Matthew said. “Who would rather have this country ruled by whites than ruled democratically. I mean, if they really asked them after sodium pentothal or truth serum. Just put them under oath and say, ‘Would you rather have a country run where whites win all the elections or most of them? Or you rather a truly democratic country where people, regardless of their ethnic background, would be allowed to vote. And, I am afraid of the answer.”
Chris then continues with many of the reasons that concerned him. He pointed out that a top Pennsylvania Republican openly said they would change the voter ID laws to let Republicans win. Chris Matthews then made a prescient statement about the Republican Party.
“You run for the white vote,” Matthews said. “You gave up the black vote. And you hope you can win. Unfortunately, that kind of politics, tribal politics, is still very much in evidence enacted by state legislatures to overrule democracy.”
Chris is a flawed messenger, but he is right. Imagine if more people having the honor of being in front of the camera on national networks encouraged all to look in the mirror so that we can all work on ourselves, our biases, our fears, and so much more.
