Jake Tapper did not disappoint in his interview with Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA). He called out Jim Jordan & Jim Banks as liars. He made clear that the insurrection was a Republican event.
Jake Tapper gets real
Jake Tapper discussed the infrastructure deal with Pat Toomey. No breaking news here: Republicans still want the middle-class and poor to pay for the continued enrichment of the wealthy.
Tapper then moved on to the Select Committee to investigate the January 6th insurrection. His first question did not disappoint in that he identified Reps. Jim Jordan and Jim Banks for exactly who they are.
“We just saw the effort to investigate this on the House side through a committee blow up after Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy put two of the most prominent election liars, Congressman Jim Jordan and Jim Banks, on the committee,” Tapper asked. “Speaker Pelosi then vetoed them. McCarthy’s now boycotting the entire thing. … Why do you think so few in your party, in the Republican Party, seem to want to take this seriously and get to the bottom of what happened on January 6? I’m obviously not including you in that.”
Toomey attempted to spin. He claimed Democrats wanted to make the election solely about Jan. 6th instead of about their policies. The reality is Democrats should make the election about both. After all, the Jan. 6th insurrection proves the Republican Party is a violent autocratic party. Most importantly, Democratic policies are supported and much needed by Americans now.
Jake asked what does it say that an investigation into a violent insurrection would reflect poorly upon Republicans. Toomey’s answer was to throw Trump under the bus.
