A reporter asked Jen Psaki if those who ridiculed Joe Biden’s age and campaign actions calling him Sleepy Joe should apologize. Her answer was matter-of-fact and divine.

Jen Psaki did not bite on the Sleepy Joe question

While the question will give many progressives some comic relief, it is important to get the message the reporter is making out in the ethos.

“President Biden will be 79 years old on November 20th,” the reporter said. “During the campaign, there was a lot of talk about how old he is and how he will not be able to survive at the White House, especially in times of crisis. But we’ve seen him during these crises, the COVID crisis, the hurricane crisis, the Afghanistan crisis. Do you think that people should, those who called him Sleepy Joe should apologize to him?”

Jen Psaki was on point.

“I don’t think we’re looking for an apology,” Jen Psaki replied. “I think we’re looking for allowing the president to continue to address multiple crises at a time, which is exactly what he’s been doing over the past few weeks.”

While Jen could have used the question to highlight the administration’s many accomplishments thus far, she didn’t. She could have highlighted that the president has been traveled and present in many places and not locked in a basement.

Ultimately, Pssaki wanted the audience to infer. It was a more effective move.
