“They don’t care” is the moniker that best describes Republican orthodoxy. Matthew Dowd, in his enumeration, makes it clear.
Matthew Dowd asseses GOP evil deeds
Mathew Dowd first itemizes three issues that make clear the GOP means well for no one but a select few while speaking to Nicolle Wallace.
“Let me give you three instances which I’ll describe, and you’re going to think is absolutely ludicrous,” Dowd said. “But it’s totally true. We have an election which is the … biggest turnout election in Texas. The most secure election is described by everybody that’s investigated it. A big lie develops from it. We have an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol based on the big lie. And what is the GOP in Texas response to that? It’s to lie about it and then try to stop people from voting … Another issue, guns. We’ve had mass shooting after mass shooting after mass shooting in Texas and around the country. … What is the GOP’s leadership of Texas’s response to that? Make it easier for people to openly carry a gun without a permit and without training. And on abortion, think about this. Texas has more uninsured women and children without health care choices than any other state in a union by far. … And what is their response to that? It’s to rollover Roe versus Wade and take away one of the final health care choices a woman has in this.
Dowd points out something Democrats need to hone in on. Texas Republicans do not even serve those who vote for them. They do not care but for a few.
“The only way that stops is if they begin losing elections in the general election,” Dowd said. “It’s not just about people of color. It’s not just about women. It’s not just about children. Ultimately even the places that vote red are not going to be represented by what’s going on in Austin right now by even the people that vote for Republicans in a general election because they don’t care.”
And that is the moniker we must use. They just don’t care.
