Katie Porter points out these are Biden’s Bills. Progressive, be clear: TWO BILLS or NO BILLS.

September 28, 2021 By Egberto Willies

Rep. Katie Porter never disappoints as she explains the infrastructure bills. This is not the time for Progressives to cave to failure.

Congresswoman Katie Porter continues to be on point.

Watch Politics Done Right TV here.

Passing these bills are not rocket science. There is a move to undermine a robust human infrastructure bill that would be transformative. Katie Porter was clear when asked what she would do for a vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

“We can’t decide how we’re going to vote because we simply are not done with the negotiations, Porter said. “So I know this isn’t it’s difficult. It’s challenging. It’s nerve-racking for all of us, but this is congress doing its job.”

Porter said the House had done its job. She said the Senate had provided nothing for negotiating. This is a classic maneuver of a dysfunctional Senate where bills go to die. And that is why Progressives are demanding passing the human infrastructure bill first.

Later, Stephanie Ruhle asked if it wasn’t best to accept the bipartisan bill. She implied Democrats are at risk if no bill is passed. And she is right.

“Let’s remember that infrastructure alone is not going to give the job creation that we need to have an economic recovery,” Porter said. “About 90 percent of those infrastructure jobs will go to men, and these are good important high-paying jobs, and I support them. But if we want to continue to govern and lead and we want to continue to support president Biden, then we need to pass the agenda that he ran on, and that is an agenda that means two free years of community college. It’s an agenda that supports child care. It’s an agenda that recognizes the crisis that senior care and elder care help when community-based care is creating in this country, and it’s dealing with climate change.”

Poter also pointed out that young voters will not vote for any party if bills that support them are not passed. She is correct. Progressives need to ensure that it is two bills or no bills.
