Congressman Michael Turner (R-OH) got his butt handed to him by General Milley. He forgot that truth and evidence beat grandstanding.
A prepared General Milley embarrasses Congressman
The problem with the Right Wing Republicans is that they tend to believe their own willful ignorance. And it makes them look silly, unprofessional, and shallow. That is exactly what happened to Congressman Michael Turner (R-OH). The thing is, General Mark Milley is neither a pushover nor deferential to the undeserving.
The congressman tried to malign the general by insinuating he went rogue in his calls to his Chinese counterpart. He started demanding documents and transcripts as the general watched him for what he really is, a grandstanding willfully ignorant congressman.
The congressman then turned to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. He tried to insinuate that the general did something wrong. Austin said the general claimed that he, the former Defense Secretary, was in the communication chain. I would have liked for the secretary to be more definitive in having Milley’s back. He is far too deferential to charlatans.
But Milley had the last word. He had all the information that the Congressman implied would prove he was rogue ready for his defense. In effect, he handed the Congressman his ass on a platter in front of a national audience.
