Republican Rep. Kevin Brady has the ability to lie much more smoothly than Trump. He turned a Democratic tax cut into a giveaway to the rich.
Lying Kevin Brady misleads
Stephanie Ruhle points out to Republican Congressman Kevin Brady that it seems he should be supportive of allowing high-taxed states to deduct those taxes on their federal returns. His answer was mesmerizingly and brutally misleading and false.
“These are great states, by the way,” Kevin Brady said. “People love living there, but they just are brutally taxed both as families and businesses. That’s why they’re leaving. Secondly, you know, why should the building janitor who doesn’t itemize subsidize the occupants of the penthouse who gets in under repealing the SALT cap gets. The majority of the tax windfall goes to millionaire and billionaire households. Why is that fair, and why should low tax states subsidize high tax states? It is a giveaway of the wealthy, and today as we talk, it is the number one reason they’re not moving forward on this big tax-and-spend bill. They can’t figure out how to give this tax windfall to the wealthy.”
Brady really thinks his constituents are dumb. He is partially responsible for Trump’s $1.7 Trillion tax-cut-scam, which did not really find itself into no other than the pockets of millionaires and billionaires.
The craziest thing he said was that low-tax states are subsidizing high-tax states. His assessment is not only misleading but a provable lie. Blue high-taxed states educate and invest in their citizens. The Low-taxed Red States are welfare states that take more from the federal government than they put in.
