Liz Cheney continues to put country first
Liz Cheney is no friend of Progressives. However, my admiration for her continues to grow. And while I know we have different social and economic belief systems, she has proven to care about the country in the aggregate more than her congressional seat.
I think she is making a calculated bet. When the fever of Trumpism has burned out, assuming we still have a democracy, she will be the leading contender for the presidency. Why? She proved that she puts the country first.
Listen to this excoriation of her party in the video clip as she calls out the protagonists. This stance will continue to infuriate Trumpists. But at the same time, it will touch the unaligned and many who want to see a politician not pandering.
Democrats better beware. Solve people’s problems. After all, if our democracy survives and democratic solutions turn out to be ineffective as traitors to the poor and middle-class in the Democratic Party continue their sabotage of the correct policies, Cheney will look good to many.
