Build Back Better is not dead. One wishes President Biden was this passionate publicly before it all seemed to fall apart.
Build Back Better is alive
A reporter asked the president if he felt betrayed by Senator Joe Manchin. for canning the Build Back Better bill on Fox News. Joe Biden did not take the bait.
Biden said that he does not hold grudges. He then said something interesting.
“Look,” Biden said. “I want to get things done. I still think there’s a possibility of getting Build Back Better done. What I don’t want to do is get into it. And Joe went on TV today, and I had not watched TV. I’m told he was speaking to a Liberal Caucus in the House and said Joe Biden didn’t mislead you. I misled you.”
Biden then gave a passionate enumeration of what the bill does, who and how it helps Americans that need the help. One wonders where the passion was previously.
“Build Back Better” will make things better for most Americans. Most importantly is that it is the beginning of doing something substantive for climate change. The bill should not be a hard sell at all.
