Chuck Todd and Andrea Mitchell appeared on a Katy Tur panel lamenting their coverage of Trump and pleading ignorance.
Panel laments their coverage.
It is disconcerting to hear Chuck Todd say that it is now that they realize how dangerous Donald Trump and his sycophants were. But the following is journalistically disqualifying.
“I think why we’ve all misjudged the seriousness over time with Donald Trump is there’s a buffoonery to him,” Todd said. “At all times.”
Really, Chuck? Most of us in the activist community have been screaming at you for years to take the terrorist-in-chief seriously.
At least he got it part right.
“It’s now toxic, and you have to take it seriously,” Chuck Todd said. “Peter Navarro is an unserious person who had the levers of power to do a serious act against this country. And I think that all more of us in the mainstream media have to wake up to the fact that, yes, it’s a series of knuckleheads but it was a series of knuckleheads that the president weaponized.”
Andrea Mitchell did not make it much better.
“I don’t think that we mistook the seriousness of what he represents since election week when he refused to concede,” Andrea Mitchell said. I think since that moment, there was no doubt as to who this person is.”
Sadly, the media was instrumental in making Trump plausible. Sadly, they continue to do it with a fascist party by not being more accurate in their reporting. They are still too frequent with false equivalences.

Allowing Chuck Todd to sit in the seat of Tim Russert was an avoidable mistake. Only NBC politics prevented his son from taking the job. Todd is too slow and soft to call out the obvious lies.
