Dr. Anthony Fauci got a chance to embarrass Senator Rand Paul. He made it clear that Senator Paul was attacking Dr. Fauci for profit.

Dr. Anthony Fauci was prepared this time. He allowed Rand Paul to hang himself.
Paul started his statement by accusing Dr. Fauci of using the levers of government to smear scientists that do not agree with him. He accused Fauci of statements in an email that came from another scientist.
Fauci fought back.
“Senator you are distorting everything about me,” Fauci slammed back. “… You keep distorting the truth. It is stunning. … Not only are you distorting it. You completely turn it around. … You personally attack me with absolutely not a thread of evidence with anything you say. … I will like to make something clear to the committee. He is doing this for political reasons.”
At the end of Rand Paul’s time, Fauci asked the committee chair for some time to answer. She gave him the time.
Fauci pointed out that Rand Paul and his ilk’s irresponsibility created many crazies that are harassing his family. More importantly, an assassin with an AR-15 was arrested on his way from Sacramento in Iowa on his way to kill Dr. Fauci.
But there was more. Dr. Fauci had a prominent screenshot from Rand Paul’s website. It showed that Paul was profiteering from his attacks on Dr. Fauci.
