Murphy: Kyrsten Sinema’s refusal to break the filibuster for voting rights will be instrumental along with Joe Manchin to facilitate Trump’s 2024 coup.
Murphy: Sinema & Manchin protecting a Senate that may not exist.
Kyrsten Sinema preempted President Biden’s visit to the Senate by cementing her support for the 60 vote filibuster. She sounded like an uninformed neophyte. But most of us understand that she is likely on the dole of the plutocracy. In other words, she is paid to maintain the status quo to ensure the oligarchy can continue its pilfering.
Senator Chris Murphy had some prescient words.
“I’m disappointed that we are going to have a small group of Democratic Senators that won’t allow us to pass a voting rights bill into law,” Chris Murphy said. “And I know that some of my colleagues feel that by preserving the filibuster they are preserving the Senate. I just worry that there’s not going to be a Senate around any longer if we don’t stop Republicans from successfully engaging in a steal of an election in the way that they tried in 2020.”
Murphy went on to point out that throughout the country, Republicans are changing laws that will allow them to install Donald Trump as president in 2024.
“My colleagues who say they want the filibuster to preserve the traditions of the Senate,” Murphy continued. “May, be cutting off their nose to their face because the Senate might not be around five years from now.”
Sinema once spoke out against the filibuster. What is different? Clearly, donors own her. Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin are selling out their constituents and that is shameful and immoral.
