Pennsylvania GOP Senate Candidate Kathy Barnette has a message for Trump. He does not own MAGA. He is a product of MAGA.
Trump does not own MAGA.
The Pennsylvania Republican Senate race proves that while Trump has a lock on a percentage of the Republican Party, the lock on the GOP is not near complete. Most pundits missed a critical reality. And Kathy Barnette was not a bit shy in laying it out.
“MAGA does not belong to President Trump,” Kathy Barnette said. “MAGA belongs to the people. Our values never shifted to President Trump’s values. It was President who shifted and aligned with our values.”
At its core, Trump realized that the GOP had become a xenophobic, racist, homophobic, sexist, misogynist party. But most Republican candidates would not go there in any bold manner. Trump’s inner core and values allowed him to join the MAGA crowd unabashedly. And as long as he maintained the hateful modal, they would continue to worship him like Jesus Christ incarnate.
And Bernette proved the point with her campaign. While she came in a close third, she taught Trump a lesson. MAGA makes up about 55% of the GOP. Trump only represents a solid 31% of the GOP. (Oz vote). Between 67% and 68% of Pennvanians rejected Trump when given more MAGA options or not-Trump options.
Please make no mistake; while we should not concentrate on Trump, we must place him on the ballot via the sycophants he endorsed who won. I think election 2022 will come out much better than we think. With the abortion debate now tangible and with recordings of Trump-supporting punishing women who get abortions, the task of winning is that much easier.
