Former Trump Impeachment Lead Counsel Daniel Goldman points out there is enough in the hearing’s first day to put Trump in handcuffs.
Lead counsel for Trump’s impeachment trial: Get the handcuffs
Daniel Goldman is convinced that the special committee investigating the Jan 6th coup attempt has proven Trump’s guilt. Rachel Maddow asked him his thoughts on the hearings. He said it was devastating.
I thought Liz Cheney, in particular going down through the hearings, also enabled her to lay out all of the evidence they have,” said Goldman. “And in particular, what we learned through a lot — We’ve you’ve been talking about it all night through so many witnesses that Donald Trump knew exactly what he was doing and that his allegations of fraud were bogus. And he was told that over and over and over again.”
Goldman then points out that Trump needs to be looking for his golden handcuffs.
“And you know what I said on Twitter, and I mean it, and I haven’t said this before, Rachel,” Goldman continued. “You and I have talked to Nicole, Lawrence — We’ve all talked about what the evidence is of Donald Trump’s potential criminal guilt. And what we watched tonight was wrenching. It was moving. But what Donald Trump should be seeing are handcuffs.”
Ironically, those were the same thoughts I had as I listened to the hearing. The committee centralizes Trump as the active leader who knowingly orchestrated the attempted coup.
Watching the hearing, it was clear that many of Trump’s folks told him there was no voter fraud. He lied to his constituents as he directed the violent insurrection, a failed coup attempt.
