Beto O’Rourke is a Democrat with a spine. He slammed a Greg-Abbott-supporting heckler trying to disrupt his speech.
A heckler does not deter Beto O’Rourke.
If anyone doubts Beto O’Rourke‘s bona fides, his recent engagement around the state of Texas should remove them all. He seemed to have learned an important lesson from his near win against Ted Cruz. He is leaving it all on the battlefield.
Beto O’Rourke was in the middle of illustrating the dangers of the AR-15, a weapon of war. He pointed out that selling this weapon to an 18-year-old like the Uvalde domestic terrorist is legal.
“[You can] take that weapon that was originally designed for use on the battlefields in Vietnam,” Beto said. “To penetrate an enemy soldier’s helmet at five hundred feet and knock him down dead up against kids at 5 feet.”
At that point, the heckler audibly laughed. O’Rourke was not having it.
“It may be funny to you mother-fucker.” O’Rourke said. “But it wasn’t funny to me.”
The room erupted, and the heckler was visibly surprised. If you are going to be a heckler or you want to bird-dog, you should understand your surroundings.
