CNN’s Dana Bash called out Sen. Rick Scott’s Medicare lie but not Trump’s tax cut lie. We did!

November 1, 2022 By Egberto Willies

CNN’s Dana Bass did not allow Sen. Rick Scott to lie about Democrats cutting Medicare, but she missed his lie on Trump’s tax cuts.

Medicare lie called out!

Watch Politics Done Right T.V. here.

Recently, the media has been acting a bit more responsibly. In fact, I wrote two articles in as many days where hosts and network panelists have called out Republican lies, misinformation, and disinformation. Check out ABOUT TIME CBS: Host laid into Congressman for his ad that promoted violence against Nancy Pelosi and AT LAST! NBC Journalists knock GOP strategist’s attempt to make GOP violence equivalent to protest.

Recently, CNN’s Dana Bass asked the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee, Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), if he intended to cut Medicare. He said no. How can anyone believe it? Cap Action reported the following.

Rick Scott’s (R-FL) “Rescue America” plan: The chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee — Sen. Rick Scott — released a plan that would sunset Social Security and Medicare after five years.

And here are the words directly from Scott’s plan.

Many government agencies should be either moved out of Washington or shuttered entirely. Yesterday’s old government is fundamentally incompatible with the digital era. The permanent ruling class in Washington is bankrupting us with inflation and debt, so they must be removed. For you to have more, Washington must have less.t not Trump’s tax cut lie We did!

* All federal legislation sunsets in 5 years. If a law is worth keeping, Congress can pass it again.

Unfortunately, it was not enough for Scott to mislead by his answer. He outright lied, claiming that Democrats cut Medicare a few months ago. Scott equates Medicare negotiating with drug companies to lower prices to patients as a cut in Medicare. Of course, it is a cynical lie. He would prefer the drug companies who are his and the Republicans’ benefactors to pilfer us all. Dana Bass called him out appropriately.

When Dana Bass asked him about the irresponsibility of Trump’s tax cut scam that Republicans would want to put on steroids if they win. Bass pointed out that economists say it would not solve America’s economic problems. Scott lied, claiming that the Trump task cut raised revenue. It is completely misleading, and Dana allowed it to go unanswered. Well, here is the reality.

US lost more tax revenue than any other developed country in 2018 due to Trump tax cuts, new report says

U.S. tax revenue as a proportion of GDP drops the most of any country in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in 2018, according to a new report.

Thanks to Trump’s tax cuts, the U.S. tax-to-GDP ratio falls 2.5% from 2017 to 2018, the OECD finds.

The 2017 tax cuts dramatically alter the U.S. tax landscape for the first time in decades, though the promised surge in economic growth and investment does not result.

While Dana Bass left some misinformation on the table, at least she checked the Senator. Too often, they let all the lies slide through to the American people.
