Senators Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham show that they would stop at nothing to appease the bottom feeding in their base using the vaccine issue.
Are they using the vaccine trope one more time?
Senators Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz want the mandates for COVID vaccines in the military removed.
“We need more people in the military, not less,” Graham said. “And this mandate is going to result in thousands, tens of thousands of able-bodied Americans who are well-trained leaving the military because they chose not to get vaccinated.”
One would think a Senator would be smart enough to realize that an abled-bodied unvaccinated person spreading the virus as it did in a navy vessel can cripple the military.
Ted Cruz was even more blatant with his commentary.
“One of the reasons I believe that President Biden and Vice President Harris are pushing through this policy,” Ted Cruz said. “Is that I believe they’re doing this as an effort to purge from the military conservatives, purged from the military, people who don’t agree with their political agenda.”
Republicans should understand that following misinformed liars like Cruz and Graham is killing them. Vice reports the following.
COVID-19 is killing more Republicans than Democrats, according to a new study from the National Bureau of Economic Research. The study, titled Excess Death Rates for Republicans and Democrats During the COVID-19 Pandemic, used voter registration and death records to answer a question: is there a link between political affiliation and rates of COVID related death in the U.S.?
The short answer is yes. “In 2018 and the early parts of 2020, excess death rates for Republicans and Democrats are similar, and centered around zero,” the study said. “Both groups experienced a similar large spike in excess deaths in the winter of 2020-2021. However, in the summer of 2021—after vaccines were widely available—the Republican excess death rate rose to nearly double that of Democrats, and this gap widened further in the winter of 2021.”
The study attributes this to the vaccine uptake disparity between Republicans and Democrats, which has been widely documented as more Republicans refused to take the vaccine; the most vocal anti-vax voices were Republican politicians and some conservative news outlets: “The gap in excess death rates between Republicans and Democrats is concentrated in counties with low vaccination rates and only materializes after vaccines became widely available,” the study notes.
Senator Angus King pointed out, as well, that George Washington required his troops to get the smallpox vaccine. The military has always required vaccines. What is so special about COVID? It is a political tool Republicans hope to use. Unfortunately, it is killing their own.
