CNN Host Pamela Brown did not allow Republican Congressman Mike Turner to use our airwaves to create a negative Ukraine narrative on a retracted letter a group of Progressive Democrats sent to the President in response to her question. The statement was out of the left field since she did not attempt to put the Congressman on the defensive at no time in the interview that would elicit a counter-party attack.
Republican Rep. laid the path to calling GOP out on Ukraine.
The letter the Congressman alluded to urged the President to talk directly with Russia to end the war. Not a bad idea since the American taxpayers are taking up a hefty tab. After much debate, the letter they retracted the letter.
“You’re also on the Armed Services Committee, we should note,” Pamela Brown said, referring to Mike Turner. “According to Politico, the top Democrat on that committee, Representative Adam Smith, said at the Munich Security Conference — quote — ‘There’s more of a consensus that there that people realize that Ukraine is not going to militarily retake Crimea.’ I’m wondering if you agree with that assessment.:
The host made no mention of the sect of Republicans attempting to cut funding for Ukraine. How did Turner answer? He immediately told her that the question was not helpful then …
“You mentioned Republicans.,” Turner said. “There are 20 Democrats that sent a letter to Biden saying that we should have immediate negotiations and bring an end to this war. Putin hears that. He also hears statements like this.”
Did the Congressman get marching orders to get that statement out since Republicans are taking a defund-Ukraine beating in some circles?
What the Congressman did was open the door for the host to bring the GOP defund-Ukraine stance by some.
”Right, but they retracted that letter,” Brown said. “Do you agree there’s a difference between urging peaceful resolution and withdrawing funding?”
KNOCK OUT. He did it to himself.
