Conservative Mike Murphy could not hold back his disdain and disgust for CPAC & MAGA. He called them the Professional Grassroots Huckster Wing of the GOP.

Conservative Political Consultant Mike Murphy was not kind to either Donald Trump or CPAC. His assessment of the conference was epic.
“What happened is Trump is shrinking in the party, and CPAC is shrinking,” Mike Murphy said. “But it is kind of the professional grassroots huckster wing of the GOP. So the good news is it’s an outlier. It’s not the sampling it used to be when I was chairman of the College Republicans at Georgetown a million years ago. After Reagan got elected, we’d go there and the best party in town, and it reflected the young energy inside the Republican Party. This thing now is a scam.”
Murphy went on to call Trump a grievance populist. He also dismissed the CPAC as the hobbyist wing of the party. The actual donor wing of the party is relegated to The Club For Growth.
Unfortunately for Republicans, the hobbyist wing is getting much more coverage. And with that, it has become the face of their party.
