Dana Bash calmly exposed Texas Congressman Dan Crenshaw as either willfully ignorant or blatantly clueless.
Dana Bash exposes Dan Crenshaw
Texas Congressman Dan Crenshaw clearly has the NRA talking points down just right. And CNN’s Dana Bash was ready to illustrate his willful ignorance, at best or, at worse, his willful cluelessness.
“The one true line in these deaths is that they are shootings,” Bash said. “Therefore, they are done by guns. And guns are the leading cause of death for children and teens in the U.S. So shouldn’t helping save the lives of children be a top priority for you as a member of the House Majority?”
That was a sensible question that should have resulted in a thoughtful response. But Crenshaw came back with an NRA talking point.
“Well, the answer is armed guards,” Crenshaw said. “It would work out that the kind of guns to protect the president that would protect you all at CNN. Is it easy to get into your headquarters at CNN? Absolutely not. There are armed guards there. They’re single points of entry. I think we should look at our schools as a place that is precious and have the same kind of security that your corporate officers do that we do in Congress.”
Dana rightfully pointed out that the school in Florida and Uvalde had armed officers. We should remember that the AR-15, a weapon of war, made them scared to engage the shooter. One wonders if when these attacks kill one of their loved ones are one of their colleagues if they will drop their allegiance to the National Rifle Association.
