The mainstream media sensationalizes inflation and downturns, especially during Democratic administrations. It is refreshing to see that out of character, they are informing on the good news as food prices and inflation fall.
Mainstream Media got this one right.
A recent Washington Post/ABC poll came out stating that by a large margin, most American thought that Trump would be better for the economy than President Biden.
According to the poll, 54% said Trump did a better job handling the economy while he was president. Only 36% think Biden is doing a good job so far. Any economist of stature would dispute that.
But it is not hard to figure out why. Americans are bombarded by the Right with the problems that ail the American economy. Individually, most are doing better than they were under Trump. After all, wages are increasing. Unemployment is at an all-time low. There are millions of unfilled jobs. At the same time, most of the inflation is driven by corporate greed, and a small part of it is caused by Americans getting higher wages, something that has been missing from the working class since Reagan’s supply-side voodoo economics.
For the above reason, it was refreshing to see a short clip that highlighted the fact that inflation has been cut in half and that food prices are falling. It is a bread-and-butter story that must be told but too often is ignored. The media’s if-it-bleeds-it-leads mantra means good news that has a material impact on the country’s voting trajectory too often goes ignored. And when we ignore the totality of the message, it causes too many to vote against their interests.
