Ali Velshi did not allow former Republican Governor of Ohio, John Kasich, to use his program to lie, misinform, and bloviate about the economy, inflation, taxes, & more.
Ali Velshi dings Former Ohio Governor John Kasich
Ali Velshi did not disappoint in this interview. It got somewhat contentious because Velshi busted up a standard Right-Wing Republican in interjecting lies with some nuggets of truth to build a false narrative. Velshi kept former Governor John Kasich off false messages very well.
Ali asked Kasich why not include taxation as one of the components to bring down the debt. Kasich had a silly answer. He said that if taxes are increased on the wealthy, then Congress will just spend it. What are they to do with it?
Velshi interjected in such a manner that Republican disregard for the working class was immediately evident. Kasich spoke about the reasons why business owners got tax credits, breaks, and rebates. He is OK with these supposed risk-takers getting their money back for the risks they take. Velshi reminded him that the working class does not get their monies back when their 401K depreciates on many other things businesses do. Kasich’s only answer was that he was mixing apples and oranges.
Kasich attempted to blame Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) for inflation. Velshi pushed back hard. Inflation has absolutely nothing to do with MMT. But it is in interviews like this where Republicans try to seed misinformation. Unless it is checked statement by statement, as Velshi did here, a fallacy often becomes a reality.
