BEWARE. A GOP panel proposed a budget to destroy Social Security as we know it. They aren’t hiding!

June 18, 2023 By Egberto Willies

Sorry, there was a YouTube error.

Republicans are intent on destroying Social Security and privatizing Medicare. Those who believe it would never happen should note they successfully overturned Roe v. Wade after decades of trying.

They will destroy Social Security

Watch Politics Done Right T.V. here.

Common Dreams reported the following that should concern us all.

A panel comprised of three-quarters of the House Republican caucus released a budget proposal on Wednesday that would raise the Social Security retirement age—cutting benefits across the board—while further privatizing Medicare and slashing taxes for the rich, a plan that Democratic lawmakers and progressive advocacy groups said is a clear statement of the GOP’s warped priorities ahead of a critical spending fight this fall.

The proposal outlined by the 175-member Republican Study Committee (RSC), led by Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.), would gradually raise Social Security’s full retirement age—the age at which people are eligible for full Social Security benefits—to 69, up from the current level of 67 for those born in 1960 or later.

Here is a statement of fact. If the rich paid their fair share of taxes on all of their income, we would not only have Social Security (SS) fully funded, but we would dramatically cut taxes for most Americans. One must remember that the rich use all forms of shenanigans to disguise income or have it redefined. In short, capital gains are income. To put it bluntly, one should assume that the change in one’s wealth up or down was caused by a gain or loss of income. And given that the trajectory of the wealthy’s gain is progressively huge and attained on the intellect and labor of us all, our Social Security and general revenue coffers should have enough money to cover all of our societal needs, social and medical.

The math is not ever complicated. The indoctrination and the false definition of what income is, provide the tools to fool Americans into the false belief that SS cannot be saved without cuts.

We will discuss the above subsequently. Please listen to the video clip or listen to the podcast in this post. It is a snippet from a recent Politics Done Right program I did on KPFT 90.1 FM.
