Liz Cheney did not pull any punches about her thoughts on Republican candidates. She said they should reject Trump and Democrats must take nothing for granted,
Liz Cheney warns!
Liz Cheney continues to speak an inconvenient truth to both Democrats and Republicans. In a recent interview, she made it clear that Donald Trump was still a clear and present danger. She scolded the Republican Party for running and electing “idiots,’ her words.
Cheney started with a warning for Republicans.
“If the Republican Party continues down this path and moves towards, for example, nominating Donald Trump for the presidency,” Liz Cheney said. “I think that we have seen day after day, after day, the party go further and further down this path of not being salvageable.”
Cheney then warned the Democrats for their complacency.
“It’s really important for Democrats to take him [Trump] seriously,” Cheney continued. “There can be a tendency sometimes for people on the Democratic side to say, well, sure, you know, the Republicans will nominate him. The Republicans are a mess, but we’ll be able to beat him in a general. And that is playing with fire. And it’s a risk we can’t take.”
Cheney is correct on both counts. While I share little with her ideologically, on the attack on Trump, she has put country above party and ideology. And if Democrats and Republicans continue their tepidity, a future door could be left open for her when the country comes back to its senses, and she gets rewarded for her sacrifice.
