EPIC WARNING: Fmr. GOP Operative Steve Schmidt excoriates McConnell & GOP and then …

Former Republican Operative turned Democrat Steve Schmidt did not mince his words as he slammed Sen. Mitch McConnell and the entire GOP for their implicit attacks on our democracy.

Steve Schmidt excoriates Mitch McConnell and the GOP.

Watch Politics Done Right T.V. here.

Former Republican operative Steve Schmidt offers a dire evaluation of the current political climate in the United States. The challenges faced by democracy in the nation are evident, and the path forward demands acknowledgment and collective action.

Mitch McConnell‘s choice to remain silent upon receiving a concerning message about a potential threat to Senator Romney’s home showcases a troubling indifference or inaction within top echelons of leadership. This event is symbolic of the larger malaise that has permeated the Republican Party—a party that once held steadfast to principles of conservative governance, fiscal responsibility, and international leadership. Schmidt’s criticism of McConnell isn’t just an isolated viewpoint; it represents a broader sentiment that political leaders are failing to address imminent threats from within and outside.

Schmidt’s words serve as a warning. The current state of the Republican Party under the influence of Donald Trump has moved away from its foundational principles — one that, while never living up to it, lips service was plausible. The real danger, however, is the insidious undermining of democracy. Schmidt’s likening of the GOP’s transformation to the Confederacy is telling. It isn’t just about a shift in policy preferences or ideological alignment; it’s about a party becoming an existential threat to the very essence of American democracy.

Equally alarming is the depiction of the Democratic Party’s response. While it’s crucial for the Democratic Party to fortify its position and offer a robust counter-narrative, Schmidt’s observations underscore the party’s struggles. The forthcoming election is not just another political contest—it might very well determine the trajectory of the nation’s democratic values.

It’s crucial to understand that this isn’t just a two-party issue. The American electorate, the media, and civic institutions play pivotal roles in shaping the nation’s political discourse. The onus is on every citizen to actively engage in democratic processes, ensure the dissemination of accurate information, and hold leaders accountable. Only through collective effort can the nation navigate these tumultuous waters.

Steve Schmidt’s stark evaluation provides a much-needed wake-up call. Democracy in the United States stands at a crossroads. The choices made today will not only determine the nation’s political future but also its position on the global stage. It’s time for introspection, collaboration, and decisive action.
