Rep. Bowman knocks Sinema & Manchin for their complicity with Republicans to increase child poverty.

September 30, 2023 By Egberto Willies

Rep. Jamaal Bowman did not spare Democrats Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema for their complicity with Republicans that caused more than a doubling of childhood poverty.

Bowman knocks Sinema & Manchin on child poverty.

Watch Politics Done Right T.V. here.

In this clip:

  • Rep. Jamal Bowman appeared on Jake Tapper’s show to discuss the alarming rise in child poverty rates in the U.S., which have more than doubled in the last year from 5.2% to 12.4%.
  • Bowman blames the Republican Congress for this increase, as well as Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin for their failure to extend and expand programs like the child tax credit and SNAP, which have proven efficacy in reducing child poverty.
  • He contrasts the inaction of these two Democratic senators with the accomplishments of the Democratic-led House, arguing that Manchin and Sinema are betraying the most vulnerable populations and misrepresenting the Democratic party’s values.
  • Senator Bernie Sanders also weighed in, attributing the lapse in these poverty-reducing programs not only to Republicans but also to Sinema and Manchin.
  • The discussion delves into systemic economic issues, highlighting that the current system is designed to keep people in poverty and needs a complete overhaul. The conversation also implicates elected officials who prioritize their own interests or those of the wealthy over the needs of the general population.

One hopes that more Progressives continue to hit the airwaves calling out by name those who are causing pain on millions of Americans irrespective of their party affiliation or ideology.
