There has been a growing trend of politicians and religious figures, particularly Evangelical Christian politicians and Christian nationalists, pointing fingers at others and warning of the dangers to our children. They often accuse progressives and other groups of being degenerate and harmful influences. However, a closer look at the numbers reveals a different story. It appears that these Christian nationalists and religious figures are projecting their own moral deficiencies onto others.
For over a year now, parent, lawyer, & transgender activist Kristen Browde has been tracking cases of sexual assaults on children, resulting in a database of 9,728 cases since February of the previous year. This data provides a revealing update on the situation. It is important to note that this is raw data, and any complaints should be directed towards the criminals themselves, not the messenger. Furthermore, it is also crucial to acknowledge that not all cases make the news, and not all news is picked up in web searches. Nevertheless, the numbers speak for themselves.
Shockingly, those working in the religion business, including ordained clerics, are making the news for assaults on children at a significantly higher rate than other groups. On a per capita basis, your child is 674 times more likely to be groped or worse by an ordained cleric than by a transgender person. In terms of raw numbers, those in the religion business have committed over 125 crimes for every one committed by a transgender person or drag queen.
Turning our attention to the political landscape, it is disheartening to see that politicians are not exempt from these disturbing trends. In fact, 81 politicians have made the news for assaulting children. Of these, Republicans outnumber Democrats by a ratio of 58 to 11. If we include minor parties and nonpartisan elected officials, a staggering 71% of those making the news for assaulting children are Republicans.
It is important to clarify that the data presented does not include stings or child sex material cases. However, this does not diminish the significance of the findings. It is clear that when so-called Christian politicians and religious figures raise alarms about the danger to children posed by transgender people and drag queens, they are conveniently ignoring the real problem that exists within their own ranks.
The hypocrisy of these individuals is striking. They claim moral superiority and champion themselves as protectors of children, yet the data shows that they are the ones who should be of concern. It is a sad reality that those who proclaim to be the guardians of morality are often the ones who cannot control themselves and engage in abhorrent acts.
It is essential that we see the importance of critically analyzing and deconstructing the news. It is essential to question the narratives and uncover the truth that lies beneath the surface. The aim is to present information in a way that is accessible to all, allowing everyone to make informed decisions.
The numbers do not lie. The data clearly demonstrates that Christian politicians and religious figures are the ones who pose a danger to our children. Their projections and attempts to shift blame onto others only serve to detract from the real issue at hand. As a society, we must confront this uncomfortable truth and work towards addressing the root causes of these heinous acts. Only then can we truly protect our children and create a safer future for all.
