Labor Day is almost here and the political sprint is on. Are we going to be ready?

August 30, 2026 By Egberto Willies Leave a Comment

Trump has an $850 million total war chest, anchored by $403.4 million in cash on hand. We can’t match the dollars but we will sprint to winning at a discount because of you,

I had a very productive weekend. It was tiring but effective.

Best of all was the time spent with the PDR Posse book club today, attended by our listeners, with Les Leopold and Michael Merrill as our guests. An attendee pointed out one of their biggest fears. Even as the stars are lined up for Democrats and Progressives to win in landslides throughout the country, the reality is that Democrats have a sad ability to too often pull defeat from victory, and the GOP and Right Wing lie more effectively than Lucifer victoriously. It does not have to be that way.

Along with other community activists and organizers, we discussed with some politicians why their high-paid consultants were leading their campaigns astray and, in the absence of a quick, people-centric, as opposed to poll-centric, campaign, they are heading for certain defeat, given that said consultants have no clue what the rank-and-file and electorate look like and really want. If your consultants are not listening to the field workers and the people-base supporting you with their own time and money, the campaign cannot compete with limitlessly funded GOP candidates.

I start most of my articles on Substack. To flood the zone with our messaging and more, I used to manually distribute these to WordPress, along with other tools, to create TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X (Twitter), and other social media content. I fell badly behind since covering Netroots Nation in Philly, the Harris County Democratic Convention, and the Democratic Convention in Corpus Christi. I was up till 3:00 AM Saturday and Sunday finishing up some automation (Zapier) and wrote code that made it easy to transfer 86 articles in about 6 hours that would have taken me over a week to do. It will also allow me to finish processing my taped interviews right at the beginning of the political sprint, so I can do my part to publicize candidates in Texas and throughout the country.

In the next few weeks, I will be speaking at several Democratic Clubs and entertaining more candidates on my on-air and online radio/media program, Politics Done Right and Egberto Off The Record.

As I am writing this, I am watching a Paxton ad attacking Talarico for selling out Texas to China. Remember, Texas is entirely controlled by Republicans, from the Governor to the Texas Senate to the Texas Legislature to the Texas Supreme Court. I have yet to hear a critique from the mainstream media that points out the absurdity of the ad. The mainstream media has shown two things: dereliction of its duties and an implicit bias to the right. We can complain about it, which has always been to no avail, or we can do something about it.

The creation of this platform was specifically to be part of the solution to the mainstream media’s dereliction. But in order to do so, your support is needed. I ask that you support us today. The sprint to the finish line is beginning, and we cannot do it without you. Please subscribe to our newsletter, which subsidizes all of our platforms, or, if you are so inclined, please consider a one-time contribution today. I thank you in advance.
