Steve Schmidt as he always does hits the nail on the head. Even with a 7 million vote Biden lead, we almost lost our democracy.
Steve Schmidt reveals an unfortunate truth
Steve Schmidt did not mince his words when as a former Republican he made the following profound statement.
“The competition in American politics is now between a Democratic Party,” Steve Schmidt said. “Meaning a party that believes in democracy versus an autocratic party. Then we’ve never seen that when you see that many members of congress breaking faith with their oath to overturn an election because they don’t like a result, we’re off the reservation to a place that we might not be able to get back on it from and so it’s a very worrying moment. And what it means is now we’re one, we’re one election away from losing the country to people who no longer believe in democracy.”
In effect, Schmidt has acknowledged that the Democratic Party is the only viable and sensible party given the state of the two-party system. And that is a shame. Monopolies of any kind are not wise, even if initially benevolent. We need robust competition of ideas.

The “fucking system” did not work, at least not until the last minute, (when the Supreme Court declined to participate in a treasonous plot to destroy the American Constitution and overturn the will of a 7 million vote majority. The “system” needs to be totally updated to keep such villainous fascists from ever coming this close to a successful coup again. No President (or any other elected official) should be “above the law”! In the meanwhile, Trump, in service to his master (Putin), critically weakened American democracy, fractured America’s traditional alliances, and unnecessarily lost time in the critical race to save our planet from ourselves, and in the race to defeat the Covid-19 pandemic (unnecessarily leading to the deaths of at least 200,000 more Americans than would have died but for Trump’s ineptitude, stupidity, and his purposeful and knowingly playing down of the dangers of the pandemic, while corruptly lining his, his family’s and his rich friends pockets). How is that the system working? We refuse to pick a God-King . . . . . . . . idiot! Now go back to your co-traitors and cry in your beer! YOU LOST!
