Jon Stewart provides a Rand Paul now and then exposé

Finally! Jon Stewart calls out Rand Paul parade of lies on aid to Israel

Jon Stewart finally gave us an overdue parade. Network TV in their ever blandness and desire to promote balance and false equivalences seldom probe the candidates. It is left to us to piece snippets of truth into the proper narrative. Yes, the traditional media may prod a bit but ultimately they leave the subject muddled. Jon Stewart did not leave this one muddled.

Ron Paul was for cutting aid to Israel before he wasn’t quite for cutting. “When you look at the last ten years of foreign aid,” Rand Paul said. “Israel gets just slightly more than Jordan and Egypt get together. … I don’t think that is a good idea particularly when we are borrowing money from China … Should we be giving money, free money or welfare to a rich nation?”

Rand Paul also proposed cutting aid for Israel  in his 2011 budget proposal. So where is Ron Paul now?

“I have never introduced any legislation,” Rand Paul said. “that targeted Israel in any way. … If you want to accurately portray my position and you want to write an article that I spent the last four years trying to put conditions on aid to people who hate us or burn our flag then it would be an accurate story. And you can put as a sideline in there that I have also talked about that every country will be ultimately better off to be independent.”

A few months ago I wrote that Rand Paul could be the next president of the United States. Many thought I was crazy. Inasmuch as Jon Stewart called out Rand Paul’s propensity to lie, what was actually proven is that Paul is gaining the ability to frame the lies with plausible answers that unsophisticated or less politically aware voters may fall for.

Will Americans continue in a state of willful ignorance? Will America vote its interest? Rand Paul will present a good barometer.
