This WHITE (Laci Green) girl gets it – Racism is systemic
I came across this video in my Facebook feed and simply had to blog it. It was labeled Systemic racism for dummies. Now there is nothing new in this video. Many have written about systemic racism. Many have created long elaborate videos and training materials on systemic racism.
I have written personal stories, police encounter stories, racist police stories, and many substantive stories on the issue. They all got substantial views but how effective were they?
Being a spunky white girl with an uncharacteristic message, a video blogger and a social media personality with an audience that is receptive, can actually be much more effective than a scholarly professor speaking in an antiseptic manner or serious political bloggers. Laci Green’s video is entertaining, informative, ‘nonthreatening’ , and effective. It will at least put a crack in the minds of many that will ultimately allow an entry into their psyche. I am convinced through experimentation on social media that message framing in this medium can be effected if done just right with the appropriate personalities.
Listen to her video. Absorb her video. Then think about it. Most importantly, share it. In these time it is definitely needed.
