This arrest by police near Houston, Texas is how it is done
As I watch yet another police action live on TV I could not help but hold my breath. How will it end. The foot chase is on. Oh no. It is a black guy being chased by police on foot.
How will the police act? Cameras so far had not seemed to be a deterrent on many other encounters throughout the nation. Then it ended. The young man surrendered.
Will this be the part were pissed off officers kick, punch, or slap this dude because he forced them chase him? Will they Taser him anyway? I held my breath.
None of that happened. The officers did not overreact. They acted very professionally. I do not know all the laws the young man broke. It was however refreshing to see him come out of it alive. It was refreshing to see policing work the way it was designed to work. It was refreshing to see an uneventful arrest, an arrest that won’t make national news for all the wrong reasons.
I figure I should write a short post on this event given today’s law enforcement climate. Over the last few months most blog posts showed police officers misbehaving. During that time I had my own encounter, one that was surprisingly positive to me. I wrote about it and the officer was given a commendation after the blog post got several thousand views.
