David Plouffe, Obama’s campaign manager, called Trump a psychopath.
Chuck Todd scolds David Plouffe for calling Trump a psychopath?
Obama’s campaign manager, David Plouffe, appeared on Meet the Press and said Donald Trump met the clinical definition of a psychopath. Chuck Todd ran to Trump’s defense. He immediately balked at Plouffe.
Just before Plouffe’s analysis about Trump, Todd asked him why he erred in judging Clinton’s strength in Colorado and Virginia. In that context, Plouffe explained that most people believed that Trump would come to his senses and stop the type of campaigning he was doing. In that scenario, Trump would likely have a shot of both those states. But that was not the case.
“Basically, we have a psychopath running for president,” David Plouffe said. “He meets the clinical definition, okay.”
Chuck Todd jumped to Trump’s defense.
“Wait a minute,” said an aggressive Todd. “Do you really think — Diagnosing people on air, and I assume you don’t have a degree in psychology. Is that fair? We are jumping to conclusions here. I think this is what got voters a little frustrated.”
Plouffe came back and schooled Chuck Todd for his consternation.
“Listen, a grandiose notion of self-worth,” Plouffe replied. “Pathological lying, lack of empathy and remorse. I think he does.”
Chuck Todd’s concern about voter frustration is misplaced. They are frustrated because of lousy reporting by the mainstream media.
Donald Trump is a caricature that received stature by a media seeking ratings. He is a media creation. While some address his psychological problems, seldom is it addressed by the media. The media allowed him to lie unchecked and misinform unchecked. They gave him hundreds of millions of free time.
Maybe Chuck Todd is concerned in the reality that Trump just may be a reflection of many in the media. If Donald Trump is a psychopath, then what or those who allowed him to flourish.
