President Trump showed his lack of a moral compass as he joked about Steve Scalise's near-death experience from being shot multiple times.
Donald Trump's insensitive and irresponsible comment to Steve Scalise
When a president discounts the severity of gun violence and its effect directly and indirectly on Americans, it is evident he just does not care. The president started his speech at the White House function celebrating the pilfer of the American people with the passage of the Republican tax cut scam. When he got to Steve Scalise, the Republican Congressman that was shot at a baseball practice session a few months ago. Scalise spent several months in the hospital near death.
"Steve Scalise is braver than all of us," our infantile and irresponsible president said. "He's braver. Where is he? Oh boy, I don't know. He had a; he had a rougher year than most of us, but, it's a hell of a way to lose weight, Steve. You said you lost some. Not a good way. We love you Steve; great job, great job."
Some may remember that even with his injuries and near death experience, Scalise still resisted gun control. Some may also say that gives the president the right to his off-color joke. The reality is that no president should joke about an incident of this type.
