It seems the cable networks are finally ready to channel the outright evil and hypocrisy of a large sect of evangelicals. Don Lemon, like an experienced lawyer, reduced Reverend Franklin Graham to a stuttering ignoramus. Lemon brought out the Reverend and his cohort hypocrisy and lack of moral authority which has reduced them to a mere joke.
Lemons cross-examined Franklin Graham with tonality and sure headedness that made Evangelicals support for the president a respect ending proposition.
Don Lemon nails Reverend Franklin Graham
Don Lemon asked Reverend Franklin Graham why Evangelicals were so willing to go after Clinton for his affairs and not Donald Trump. It wasn’t a trick question but Graham made it one. He claimed that the difference was that Clinton, Kennedy, and Johnson’s ‘bad behavior’ was while they were in office. Then Franklin made the silly statement. He said Trump has changed and matured since being in office.
Lemon nailed him. “Have you read his Twitter account?” Lemon asked.
Lemon then pointed out Graham’s hypocrisy. He reminded him that after the Access Hollywood tape he did not withdraw his support. He told the Reverend that even after learning about the payout to the porn star, threatening nuclear war with North Korea, calling for a ban on Muslims, having 15 accusers of sexual misconduct, fighting with a Gold Star family, fighting with people on Twitter, and calling other countries sh*tholes, Evangelicals still have not withdrawn their support.
Lemon challenged Graham’s statement that the presidents ill-behavior was somehow in the past as an excuse why he continues to get Evangelicals’ support.
“The argument that he has changed or he has somehow evolved, that just doesn’t stand,” Lemon said. “Most people don’t see that.”
A stuttering Graham returned to Clinton and other Democratic president’s affairs not understanding that Lemon was pointing out bad behaviors of all sorts. When Lemon challenged him about just concentrating on affairs, he claimed that many of the things the president is accused of doing, the president said he did not do them. In other words, the Reverend conveniently chooses to ignore that we are living in an era of a president that lies like no other politician in history.
The Reverend then tried to attribute Trump’s behavior to him being a businessman and not a politician. Lemon’s response was epic.
“Are you saying business people don’t have morals as well?” Lemon asked. “They shouldn’t have standards?”
Franklin Graham finally ran out of answers so he had to go to the divine.
“I think he is president of the United States for a reason,” Graham said. “I think God put him there. He offended everybody just like you said. He did everything wrong as a candidate. And he won. I don’t understand it other than I think God put him there. .. All of us are sinners. .. Donald Trump is not perfect.”
How come these Evangelicals then could not fathom that Clinton and Obama were put there by God as well? The palpable hypocrisy is bewildering. Are they saying God is a Republican?
Lemon had one of the best lines. He told Graham that supporting Trump because the ends justify the means is tantamount to it being OK for poor people to rob banks.
“I don’t understand the cognizant dissonance of Christians and people who twist themselves in pretzels to try to make excuses for Donald Trump’s bad behavior,” Lemon said. “I don’t understand that.”
Lemon then said that according to the Bible one should do on to others as they expect others to do on to them.
Recently Michael Steele, former Chairman of the Republican National Committee called out Evangelicals in no uncertain terms.
