This should be grounds to take Fox News off of our airwaves for being an anti-mask promoting network that caused thousands of lives.
Fox News comes clean
Fox News Steve Doocy seemed to have gotten an epiphany. Masks work. The network ridiculed those who were imploring all to wear them. They magnified it into an ideological and political item.
Fox News failed to dissuade a president who cares nothing about anyone as he conducted countless large rallies that turned into COVID-19 super-spreader events. It was not enough that a maskless Herman Cain died. It was not enough that countless administration officials got infected. The irresponsible coverage continued.
Now Steve Doocy has come around to read a confirming study that proved scientifically that masks work.
Here is this from the CDC. Note even as it was recently placed on their website, this information was well known before.
After implementation of mask mandates in 24 Kansas counties, the increasing trend in COVID-19 incidence reversed. Although rates were considerably higher in mandated counties than in nonmandated counties by the executive order, rates in mandated counties declined markedly after July 3, compared with those in nonmandated counties. Kansas counties that had mask mandates in place appear to have mitigated the transmission of COVID-19, whereas counties that did not have mask mandates continued to experience increases in cases.
We did not have to lose 270,000+ Americans. In fact, if we had just followed the science, just like Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan, nipped this virus in the bud even without a vaccine, we could have too. These countries followed the science. They never allowed the virus to become a political issue. This is not different than how we have handled pathogens before. We had isolated viruses before it spread when we had responsible leadership.
