Journalist admits that capitalism is a failure for critical stuff but still blames the government?

May 25, 2022 By Egberto Willies

Sorry, there was a YouTube error.

Journalist Terry Moran told the inconvenient truth and noted that the profit-based private sector is unreliable. He then blames the government for the baby formula fiasco.

This Journalist does not see the error in his analysis

Watch Politics Done Right T.V. here.

I have always found Terry Moran to be an intelligent and thoughtful journalist. I find his commentary and analysis on This Week so disconcerting. It was outright wrong.

Martha Raddatz first pointed out that the military had to rescue the failed baby formula industry by bringing in baby formula from Europe.

“The baby formula issue is shocking to Americans; it’s shocking,” Terry Moran said. “The political ramifications of it are profound. This can’t be our country, where babies are at risk of dying. I mean, if this goes on for a few more weeks, it’s possible we’re going to lose someone in this country because of this.”

In his infinite wisdom, Moran immediately attempted to blame the government and the Biden administration for their response to the milk plant shutdown.

“The Biden administration knew about it in February,” Moran said. “Whatever came afterward, whatever the investigations determined, the buck stops in the Oval Office. I don’t know why someone at the FDA didn’t call the chief of staff and say, you know, we had to shut down this baby formula plant.”

After blaming the government & administration, Moran gets to the inconvenient truth.

“Because of the nature of the American economy and American corporations, where there’s just no wiggle room at all because efficiency, maximizing profits — you take one piece out and the system collapses.”

The journalist knows that corporations err on the side of efficiency over reliability. Their fiduciary responsibility is not to the customers or workers. It is to the shareholders and executives. That one statement is why for-profit healthcare, public transit privatization, etc., would always be a failure.

No products and services necessary for our existence should be dependent on a for-profit capitalist answer. Two many are already dying.
