Republican Representative Andy Barr thought he would go on The Week and spin the Kevin McCarthy Speaker debacle. But George Stephanopoulos would have none of it.
George Stephanopoulos nails him.
Republican Representative Andy Barr believes that the Speaker of the House debacle was a good thing. He has been one of Kevin McCarthy‘s most avid supporters. But he showed that he was an utter disaster once he got off his talking points.
The Congressman implied that the compromise with the 21 Right Wing Republican House terrorists was good. After all, by ensuring they had a voice on committees meant that by the time a bill went to the floor, it would be smooth sailing. But George tripped him up.
Republicans are allowing amendments to these bills, which defeats the purpose of his statement. Unfortunately, it caught him off guard, and he started spinning in the wind.
The fiasco in the House made it clear to most around the world that the facade of our Democracy is cracking. One hopes that as we expose that our Democracy was held not by law but by decorum, we will codify democracy.
The Electoral College is anti-Democratic. Two Senators per state is anti-democratic. Gerrymandering as anti-democratic. I could go on and on. We do not have the right to preach one person and one vote to other countries until we fix those deficiencies in our country. Donald Trump. corporate indoctrination, and the tyranny of the rich proves we must codify democracy.
A few years ago, I co-executive produced the documentary “Legalize Democracy.” Please check it out. It is still very relevant.
