Most journalists in mainstream media, whether from cable news, including Fox News, broadcast news, and mainstream print, are good people. But they cannot save us.
Sunday mainstream media news, normal?

I am in my home studio between 12 and 16 hours daily, except when I attend a meeting, conference, protest, or rally. That time is spent blogging, reading, processing videos, interviewing, watching multiple news channels concurrently, posting to my various platforms & social media, and other tasks. In effect, I am flooding the zone to do my little part in counteracting an administration intent on taking America beyond an oligarchy but a citizenry approaching indentured servitude.
As Trump, Musk, MAGA, and the Republican Party become more emboldened, the media, the Democratic Party, and too many organizations continue to use dealing with the menace as their modus operandi. I do not believe they do this entirely out of malice or dereliction of duty. It has more to do with old journalistic norms and a desire to believe that doing otherwise would compromise their values or ethics. That is not the case at all.
Old journalism required balance and equivalences between sides. Issues were not wrong or right but just were. Small government vs. big government is not a discussion between wrong or right but between different ideologies Americans had to choose. While many issues fall under that mantra, some are simply wrong. The inability of the mainstream media, the Democratic Party, and other organizations to enlighten public opinion is because they do not speak in the striking language of truth vs. the striking language of lies.
Remember when Republicans lied about Obamacare having death panels and throwing your grandmother off the cliff? They do this on every issue, ad nauseam. Interestingly Republican policies truthfully harm Americans and could be placed in graphic language that viscerally gets to the American psyche. Yet, rarely is this done by Democrats, our mainstream media, and other organizations.
Here is a classic example. Texas Republican politicians are not allowing Texas to accept the Medicaid Expansion to the Affordable Care Act even though the first three years allowed their uninsured to get health insurance free of charge, with the state having to pay only 10% after three years. This disproportionately affects rural Texans, poor or working class. Texans are paying the taxes for the Affordable Care Act but are leaving billions on the table. Because Texas provides fewer services than most blue states and because of its oil prowess, they are running large budget surpluses.
The above explanation can be summarized in many easily understood, truthful, and consequential statements that hit viscerally.
- Republican politicians are killing working-class Texans.
- Republican politicians are shipping your healthcare dollars to other states.
- Republican politicians are killing many children.
- Republican politicians are killing Texans as they give Texans’ money to wealthy corporations.
I could come up with 100 more truthful statements, some more visceral than the above. We continuously go high as they go low or bring a stick to a gunfight.
But this is not new. It is endemic to the “good side” for many ideological and corporately dictated reasons. After all, many “progressive” organizations and the Democratic Party are funded by the same corporate sector that benefits from Republican and MAGA lies. So, they acquiesce.
That is why we need bold storytelling, bold truthtelling, and journalists willing to call things out without fear. That is what I do with my twice daily media/radio program Politics Done Right, my social media (TikTok, Instagram, Telegram, YouTube Shorts, etc.), videos, and streaming (Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, SubStack, etc.), my books, articles, blogs on various other networks, and this newsletter (Egberto Off The Record). It is not easy. In fact, at times, the “good side” castigates us for being too frank. Ironically, we have reached and caused many I engage with on the right to think critically.
All of us can contribute to the work necessary to get this country back on track. It will not be one person’s idea or method. We conquered AIDS by attacking it from various directions. Trump, MAGA, and Republican politicians have been successful in doing the same, but with visceral lies. Flooding the zone with visceral truths is more effective than flooding with lies. While it is time-consuming, it must be done continually. It is why we invest the time, effort, and finances to do it. Those of us doing this work need your help funding and sharing our work. Becoming a paid subscriber to our newsletter does that. Please consider doing it now and know that you are a part of us reestablishing the America we say we are.
