Torry Mercer’s short poetry slaps us with the country’s failed political reality.

May 8, 2019 By Egberto Willies

Sorry, there was a YouTube error.

Sometimes its just fate. I’ve known Torry Mercer for some time now. I was not aware of his political rapping poetic acumen. I was pleasantly surprised as I am sure you would. In less than a minute he describes our current reality.

Torry Mercer’s Political Rap/Poetry

My friend Torry Mercer came in to answer phones for Politics Done Right with Egberto Willies. I tried to go home, but my wife called me and said to stay put. All the streets and some homes flooded and it would be a while before the water drained.

I did a one-eighty and headed back to the KPFT 90.1 FM studio. Torry stayed at the studio after my show to answer some more phones for the next program, GenerAsian Radio. I hung around the studio’s green room and had some far-reaching political conversation with him.

On an aside, I found out he had a storied history with this community radio station. It is incredible the impact so many folks from so many different backgrounds, professions, etc. have had on this great station. That is what community radio is all about. And this one, with a 100-thousand-watt transmitter, covers the Houston Metropolitan Area and a large swath of SouthEast Texas. It is that gem that we must keep alive as the only seed of Progressive thought and broadcast in the area,

I knew Torry Mercer was a History professor as well as a hell of a political activist. I did know he could rap poetry. When he did some, I had to get a clip on video and share. So please enjoy.

HELP: Please join my YouTube channel so I can get the numbers up to open up some more features and reach more folks. Gracias!
