It was a drizzly evening. I had just gotten back from an entire day session at the Economic Justice Forum sponsored by the Houston Peace and Justice Center and the University of Houston Student Government Council. The Kingwood Festival was in full swing with most patrons waiting for the last event, “The Beetles”.
It was my time to man the Kingwood Area Democrats booth, so I got there about half hour early to peruse the grounds. One of our members pointed to an adjacent booth and told me that this vendor had moved from his assigned location smack in front of a fire hydrant and close to our booth. It was a radical Tea Party guy. She told the organizers and the cops about his infraction, however nothing was done. The most vocal citizens in this town are Tea Party sympathizers. The was to be expected.
Our member stated that the guy was rather radical with provocative merchandise. When I looked over I saw a Black man manning the booth. The booth was some distance from the Tea Party booth (some of the Tea Party folks here in town are ‘friends’ of mine) so I was not sure who he represented. It was a great opportunity for an interview. After all, a black Tea Party person is an anomaly given the fact that the racist element (here, here,& here) in the Tea Party is rather pronounced.
Mr. Aaron Johnson was the Tea Party Patriot manning the booth. He acceded to the interview and gave permission to use it at will. Mr. Johnson is passionate and I had the feeling he believes everything that he is saying. In speaking to him before the interview I found him to be a family man who loves his family and the fact that he was out there manning the booth alone, a hard worker.
That said, Mr. Johnson showed a level of delusion I have not even seen in the rank and file Tea Party leaders here in Kingwood, Texas. He believes the mere fact the President’s middle name is Hussein that he is Muslim. (I should have asked him if given his name Aaron Johnson if his first name made him Hebrew and his last name made him Anglo Saxon). Inasmuch as he believes in the superiority and mercy of the Christian religions, he says America should not intervene in Syria because one should allow the enemy to kill each other.
Off camera he told me the president should be impeached. When I asked him why, he gave a dubious list of things the president did including the appointment of czars that his folks deemed unconstitutional. Suffice it to say when asked for specifics he had no answers other than scripture.
The interview is quite entertaining. As I asked the questions, I had to fight internally to maintain my composure. It was an immense sense of pity for him at the same time with anger for him being so weak minded that he allowed his complete brainwashing. I invited him to lunch but his brain may be permanently and irreversibly rewired. At this point it has become an illness. That is the danger of the Tea Party. The leaders know better. The followers are just pawns in the game to allow a few to maintain the status quo, the American Plutocracy.

This, and other kinds of rank ignorance do not muse me, as much as they frighten me. When one is consumed by “belief,” that consumption can lead to any action, destructive to self and others. I consider, not only jihadists “following the will of Allah,” but patriots of any ilk who, allow themselves to become “dung missiles” for the weapons of an oligarch.
Many have forfeited their freedom to everything from polluted air and water, to GMO and adulterated food, serf-slave wages(sic) and annihilation.

Wow, is this guy a living breathing human being? He comes across as a windup toy programed to spout tea party talking points. Scarey. Invasion of the body snatchers. What’s so upsetting to me is that this could be such a great country if only there weren’t so many powerful people willing to do harm to their fellow countrymen and women. They care so little about the rest of us, and yet are able to convince nearly half of us that they actually have our best interests at heart. They couldn’t do this if there weren’t so many gullible Americans.

Your message was picked up by the Coffee party via Facebook and posted to thier page. As a strong opponent, I want to thank you for the apaerent use of trickery and deception when labeling this man delusional. I also want to give you a hug for asking him if he has been a victum of racism, while labeling this viseo “A delusional black man”. The guy clearly say’s, “I’m with the America we love foundation, a Conservative Christian organization.” That is who he was there representing during the interview. Likewise, Conservatism is a way of life, an ideology in of itself, and therefore the young man takes comfort in supporting the Tea Party because both organizations share the same values and beliefs. This video id clearly more Uncle Tom’ hypocrisy from the very party the Liberals steal money from as they use the money to keep the party itself in poverty. Wow!!!
To that I say you you and the Coffee Party, “news flash bigots, its 2013’, and the days of human slavery are near its end. I love being your opponent; you make my job seeking justice very easy. This is what happens you you speak lies. Enjoy, as this video is now going viral across the Tea Party and conservative websites as well as facebook.

You are entitled to your opinion my friend. I honestly believe you believe what you are saying so much so that you do not see that intrinsic hate within the NEW Conservative/Tea Party ideology. I long for an honest Conservative of years past. The Tea Party and current crop of Conservatives are not. Even Aaron’s message shows the hate, “let enemies kill each other?”, how loving and Christian. Liberalism is what gave women, minorities, and the working class values in a society that denied them those values. Note I did not say Republican or Democrat as in the past there were Liberals in both parties that pushed civil rights, women’s rights, etc. As both parties have polarized, the Republican Party has become the party of hate and reversals; the Democratic Party, the party of opportunity and progressivism. You may not like it but even in your prose above, the hate is evident.

There is something deeply disturbed in a culture when language with clear original meanings are turned to the opposite; words like patriot–lover of home, not destroyer; conservative–to revere and protect the resources of the past, especially nature (as TR intended; liberal-liberty/freedom oriented and seeker for others beyond one’s narrow identity group;even the word values, changed from meaning of worth because of its positive importance to the highest qualities such as integrity, honesty, truth, has become a negative embracing greed, hatred, ignorance and fear-especially of the designated “other.”

People who belong to the Tea Party are the most UN-American people in these United States.
Gwendoline Y. Fortune says
“Un-American” is but part of their ignorance and mental disturbance. The ultra “hold-back” types are not fully evolved humans. Their capacity to empathize with the rest of humanity–all life– is nil. They are like snakes who hide in holes, biting the ankles of all who pass, and do not know why thoughtful, knowledgeable, compassionate people think there is something wrong with their view and action in the world. I am no great fan of the president. I do not grossly mis-interpret what he says. The haters have no context in which to understand what he says and does.
Gaidig Traon says
While his list of things the President has done was completely vague, the interviewer did not press him to be more specific or challenge him to name any concrete thing that Obama has done. Once thing that struck me persistently strongly was his beliefs about Islam, including the fact that he believes that Muslims worship a different god than Christians and Jews do, even though he clearly acknowledges and even touts Judaism as the source of Christian belief. It also strikes me as interesting that he names the support of Israel as the most critical aspect of having a Christian president, not any moral legislation or behavior, and considering that the support of Israel has not always been a strong position of American Christian.

People who follow the tea party are mostly from the south where racism is more rampant than all other parts of the USA ,combined…Clearly southern racism and ignorance go hand in hand and only the rich white men in this country will benefit from any success their “followers” are trying to create…… The man in this story who lives in Texas will become non existant, if the tea party succeeds and he will feel the pain of being taken for a fool…but it will be too late…
I was born in Texas and raised in Louisiana. My entire family except for my kids still live in East Texas and Shreveport, La. They are all white and they are all as ignorant as the man in this story..and they are all racist and tea party followers. They believe that when God created the white man He also placed a superior “class” label on them… they call themselves christians and patriots.
I say that they are neither and who knows what they say about me as they all know that I believe that God created ALL of His people equally…AND they know that I voted for President Barrack Hussein Obama TWICE and would do it again if he were allowed to serve thic country for a third term. Who can ever imagine how great this President might have been , had he NOT continually had to fight the republican/bagger house to pay the bills that the prev. president created for this country…or had to defend himself for being a black american president and on and on and on….This President has been the absolute best this country has EVER had….
