Left Over Turkey Shepherd’s Pie (VIDEO)

November 27, 2017 By Egberto Willies

Here is something you can make with all that leftover turkey and mash potato. And it makes a new and tasty dish, Shepherd’s pie. Why not try it instead of wasting all that good food sitting in the refrigerator after Thanksgiving.

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Put 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a saucepan.
  • Add one cup pearl onions
  • Add three small diced carrots
  • Cook for five minutes
  • And a pound of leftover turkey
  • Cook until brown
  • Sprinkle a tablespoon of all-purpose flour over the mixture.
  • Cook for an additional three minutes
  • Add one tablespoon of olive oil
  • Add 1 cup of frozen peas
  • Add a generous amount of thyme
  • Add some salt
  • Add some black pepper
  • Add 3/4 cups of chicken broth
  • Simmer for five minutes
  • Separate the mixture into four small bowls
  • Add any leftover mash potato on the top of the mixture in each bowl
  • Bake in the oven for twenty-five minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit

Don’t forget we do this all over again for Christmas. Here are a great Cornbread Dressing / Cornbread stuffing recipe and how-to. After all the good eating over these very long holidays, remember to spend the new year eating healthily.
