Occupy Suburbia: Where The Battle Of Ideas Must Be Won by Brian Henry

image.png

Bryan Henry captures the essence of what the Occupy Movement must become in order to have a real and lasting impact to our body politics and specifically a democracy that works for all. Occupy Kingwood is honored that he chose the local movement in our local community of Kingwood Texas and the surrounding areas to highlight as an example of the movement advancing. As noted in Bryan Henry’s article, Occupy Kingwood completed its promise of 52 consecutive weeks at the corner of Kingwood Drive and West Lake Houston Blvd in Kingwood Texas. The movement has morphed into a chapter of Move To Amend where it will be working on the core issues that have corrupted our politics, corporate personhood and money defined as speech. Once eradicated the voice of the the average middle class American will once again be heard. Occupy Kingwood’s First Organizational Move To Amend Meeting Sat. Jan. 12th 10:00 AM

image.png

Occupy Kingwood had a great run.We were successful in both showing that we can organize  at the grassroots and at the same time give productive information to all those willing to engage. Fulfilling our  52 consecutive weeks pledge whether, hot or cold, rain or shine, was an humongous  if not incredulous accomplishment; but we did it. We documented all 52 weeks. Get a cup of coffee and check them all out here. If we are to have a meaningful impact on our body politic, something that we all intend to do, we must continue to come together and strategize. We must come together and help lead the change. In that light on Saturday January 12th at 10:00 AM we will be meeting at the Starbucks at 2515 Green Oak Drive in the front of Kingwood off Kingwood drive. Please come and let’s move on to a new project to move forward. It is much more than just Move To Amend. LIKE My Facebook Page Follow @EgbertoWillies … [Read more...]

Occupy Kingwood – Sustainable Form Of The Occupy Movement Ends After 52 Weeks (VIDEO)

DSCN5137.jpg

Occupy Kingwood, our 52 consecutive weeks at the corner of Kingwood Drive and Lake Houston Blvd on Saturdays, has come to an end. The movement however goes on as the group is morphing into an affiliate of Move To Amend that will do grassroots work to build consensus on modifying the constitution to codify that “money is not speech” and that “corporations are not people”. Today we received media coverage from Channel 11, our CBS affiliate and the Kingwood Observer. We had north of 50 participants this morning. What Occupy Kingwood has accomplished in this very conservative suburb is something that should be done throughout the country to show politicians that the citizenry no longer feel impotent. It will show politicians that they are ready to engage and impose their collective will. Occupy Kingwood thanks the entire Kingwood community for a mostly civil response to our activities at the corner every Saturday. There are too many people to thank for their participation and commitment. Rest assured … [Read more...]
